If you’re looking to stream some movies from online sources, you’ll find that Kodi is one of the best options around. You can find a large number of Kodi App for movies that will provide easy access to tens of thousands of films.
We’ve done a significant amount of research into different Kodi add-ons to determine which add-ons provide the best movie content. When conducting our search, we looked for things such as:
- Menu options
- Ease of use
- Streaming quality
- Functioning links
- Number of movie options
Although many popular Kodi add-ons come up and go, there are always new add-ons that spring up to take the place of the ones that were lost. We also found that many popular add-ons that disappeared are now back with new names and better than they were before.
Many of these add-ons use either the SuperRepo or Kodil (Kodisrael) Kodi repositories. We suggest downloading and installing these repositories before you proceed. Click here to access our 1Best Cody Repositories guide, which includes information on how to install both of these, along with other useful repositories.
For each addon below, we’ve given a short review on what you’ll find inside the add-on. Some have unique features, such as HD streaming or live TV streaming. Most add-ons on this list have movie libraries that put most other online movie streaming options to shame. All of the add-ons on our list are valuable in their own right, so you’ll likely want to consider each one (or download all of them, if you’re so inclined!)

We highly recommend using a VPN when using Kodi. Kodi users have been known to receive copyright infringement notices for streaming movies, sports, and TV shows through various App. If you would like to keep your streaming habits private, our recommendation is IPVanish - a complete privacy solution for Kodi users. It's also worth noting that purchasing a 12 month subscription will give you two months free.
1Best Cody Add-ons for Movies 2017
This ever-evolving list of Kodi App for movies is popular with almost all Kodi users. Be sure to bookmark this article and come back regularly. As add-ons come and go, we add to this list and remove add-ons from it when they no longer work. At AddonHQ, we try to keep our readers updated on the state of the best add-ons. We keep articles such as this one on a strict update schedule to ensure we have the most accurate information to provide our readers.
This list was last updated on October 24, 2017.
The Covenant Kodi add-on is the spiritual successor to Exodus, which officially went out of development a few months ago. If you’re looking to get started with Covenant, you’ll find that it’s almost an exact clone of Exodus, right down to the menu options. The only difference between Exodus and Covenant is that Covenant has active development.
Additionally, you’ll find Covenant a better alternative to Exodus due to its upgraded Trakt integration. We recommend Exodus users upgrade to Covenant if they want the same experience from a safer and regularly updated source.
Our writer Alex called Nemesis a “game changer.” There are a few great reasons why. One is that Nemesis is effective at pulling in streams that actually work. Next is the fact that Nemesis extends its functionality beyond just TV and movie streams. You can stream live sports, air traffic control, and police scanner feeds. Nemesis can even play music files and audiobooks.
This is one add-on you’re definitely going to want to add to your collection.
There’s a good chance you haven’t heard of No-Name. This little-known project from developer COLDFIRE is a quality movie and TV scraping add-on that is both simple and functional. No-Bame throws in some of the most popular movie add-on features, including 3D films, box sets, genre scrapers, and IMDb lists. One of the biggest draws to this add-on is the fact that you can also utilize the popular Bennu add-on from within it as well, opening up live TV viewing options.
No-Name may be a relative unknown at the moment, but it’s likely to grow in popularity in the coming months.
Exodus is one addon that just won’t seem to die (which is definitely a good thing for Kodi fans). Despite a few setbacks, such as the loss of its most recent developer in TV App, Exodus still appears to be highly used by many in the Kodi community.
We do not recommend you download the newest version of Exodus if you still plan to use it. Instead, opt for an older version. Read our installation guide to learn more about why we don’t recommend the newest version of this add-on.
The UI is clean and downright pretty, while the library is vast. Exodus also has some of the most interesting categories you’ll find. This includes the ability to search movies based on rating, Oscar winners, whether it was a Box Office hit and based on what other users are watching. Many of the films are provided with multiple streaming domains, and some are available in HD. Exodus is an extremely well put together add-on, and one you’re going to want to make your primary movie source.
SALTS (Stream All the Sources)
SALTS is a direct competitor and analog for Exodus. Both are multi-scrappers that will search through over 50 sources to connect you to a stream. SALTS is great for pretty much any movie type you’re looking for. However, to get higher quality movie streams, you’ll want to change the settings so that SALTS prioritizes high-quality streams first.
SALTS has been up and down in the past few weeks, but may still be working well at this time. You’ll find that SALTS is one of the 1Best Cody App for movies you’ll find, assuming that it can stay put and not go down again.
Specto is a popular Exodus fork that offers you almost the exact same experience. You’ll notice the distinct similarities in the layout and in what movies and TV shows are offered through the addon. The key difference between the two is the developer(s) behind it, and how frequently it gets updated to fix broken links.
Specto gets updated rather frequently, often as frequently as once a month. You may experience a lag time when trying to install the plugin, but don’t worry. Just make sure you’re installing the latest plugin, and it will load into your Kodi eventually.
Don’t let the bland name fool you. Bob is actually a high-quality addon for streaming a good amount of content. Bob features a somewhat confusing list of options on its home screen, but you’ll find good benefit from the “New Releases” section, which has a good number of new release and well-received films.
It’s worth an install, as the category names hide some pretty good lists. “Valhalla”, for example, opens up a menu for a lot of good movie options and interesting browsing categories, such as browsing by actor name, anthology, horror, crime, and even a Danish collection (if you’re into that).
Please note: before downloading Quasar, understand that this is a torrenting addon. Torrenting comes with notable risks, especially when streaming questionable content. If you do decide to make Quasar an option, make sure that you download and use a VPN before doing so. We do not condone piracy, and you should only access content that you already have the rights for. Please read our before making Quasar your go-to addon.
Quasar has a large library, and you’ll find that it also fetches movie information directly from IMDB. The layout is altogether attractive, and the stream quality and speed with which you’ll get access to streams are top notch. Quasar is perhaps the most popular torrenting addon around, and you’ll find that it is regularly updated as well. As it uses torrents to stream, you won’t have the issue with dead links that you might find with other streaming add-ons.
BBC iPlayer (iPlayer WWW)
It’s probably easy to forget that the BBC iPlayer also gives access to a good amount of movie content as well, including non-UK movies. The library is far more limited here, so you’ll have to work with what you’ve got on this one, but the quality is top-notch, ensuring that you won’t deal with the same streaming issues you might with some of the third-party add-ons. This is indeed one of the few add-ons listed here that are listed in the Official Kodi Repository.
Note: In order to access content from the BBC iPlayer, you will need to be a UK resident with a valid TV License. If you are a UK resident with a valid TV license currently living or traveling outside of the UK, you can still access the iPlayer’s content, although you will need a VPN in order to do so.
You read that right: cCloud TV! This addon is for more than just live TV. In fact, you’ll find a video-on-demand section within this addon, as well as a section just for streaming TV movie channels from across the globe. Furthermore, we’ve found that streams load almost instantly in most cases, although the quality may be a bit questionable at times. Nevertheless, this is a good one to turn to if you want to find some good English movies and a great place to turn to for international movies as well.
You’re not going to see many new release movies with this one, however. We include is because of the quality of the streams and the depth of the content outside of new films. If you’re looking for the newest from Hollywood, you’ll need one of the others on the list.
You can find a Falcon installation guide in our post on the Best Live Sports Add-ons. Click here to access the Falcon installation guide.
Falcon is an interesting and very well-developed addon. You can use this addon to find both live TV streams and on-demand content. Falcon offers up a large amount of both. The on-demand movie streaming section, in particular, is structured well so as to make it easier to find content across a number of interesting categories. You’ll find 4K Movies, “Chickflix,” and Musical sections, among many common categories like Comedy and Drama.
Quantum (Formerly Sanctuary)
If you’ve been around Kodi for a while, you may have heard of Sanctuary. For newcomers, Sanctuary was a popular Kodi movies addon that combined the power of several different add-ons, many of which had been abandoned by their former developers and absorbed into the Sanctuary addon. Sanctuary itself was abandoned recently and but pulled back in by a new development team. The addon has now been rebranded and is up and running, offering great streaming content for Kodi users.
You’ll find a large amount of Kodi streaming content for movies and a lot more through the Quantum addon. Importantly, Quantum is one of the few add-ons that also offers a good amount of 4K and 3D movie streaming content. This addon is currently going through a refresh as well, so expect that you’ll find new and exciting features coming. However, also expect to find some errors. With the recent change of hands, you may find that some features just don’t work. This is a good one to add to your repertoire, just in case.
Elysium is the new remake of one of the old goodies among Kodi add-ons, Zen. The new Zen remake offers all of the same TV and movie streaming content that many Kodi users loved with Zen, and then some. There have been a lot of performance upgrades to the addon as well that came along with the new name change.
Like Quantum, Elysium was dropped by its original developer and then transferred over to a new developer. The new version has done some upgrades to make sure that it’s scraping from functional sites. Otherwise, you’ll only find a few, minimal changes. There are a good number of ways you can search this addon to find movie content, including by genre, year, and even based on your favorite actors and actresses.
The story for Genesis Reborn is similar to that of Elysium and Quantum. Genesis was a popular Kodi addon for movie streaming before it disappeared for a while after its original developers stopped supporting it. It was picked up by some new developers, and now is one of best new add-ons for TV and movie streaming. Genesis is a fork in the same vein as Exodus and Zen, meaning it’s built on the same code as these add-ons, although both Zen and Exodus were both built on the original Genesis code. What this means for Kodi users is that the addon has a long, successful history and is overwhelmingly good at what it does.
Perhaps the biggest draw to Genesis Reborn is the fact that it has two new features which are really attractive. The first, and best of these, is the fact that more HD streams were added, to include 4K streaming. The second benefit is the ability to disable Captcha hosts. Disabling Captcha hosts is a boon when using a movie streaming addon like Genesis Reborn, which will cycle through streaming hosts for you until it finds a working one. The feature means it will ignore those hosts, so you won’t have to constantly deal with error or dialogue boxes popping up trying to get you to enter info for a Captcha.
Update 7/10/2017: The latest version of Genesis Reborn is now located in the Jesus Box Repository. Click here to access our Genesis Reborn installation guide for more details.
Once you’ve installed either of those repositories, you can find the Genesis Reborn addon by doing the following:
- From your Kodi home screen, go to Addons
- Click on the Package Symbol on the top left
- Click on Install from repository
- Locate either the SuperRepo or Kodisrael repositories (depending on which you installed)
- Select Video App
- Scroll down until you locate the Genesis Reborn addon. Click on it, and then click on Install
- If you installed both repositories, you’ll get the option to choose which repo to install from
The Bubbles Kodi addon takes a bit of a new approach on movie streaming. While Kodi users will find traditional web scraping through this addon, the Bubbles Kodi addon also focuses on integrating other streaming services into the addon. Specifically, you’ll find that Bubbles utilizes Real-Debrid, torrent streaming, and Usenet streaming as the primary focus. The use of these services makes Bubbles more popular, as those services tend to have higher quality and result in far more options for users.
However, we recommend against using some of these services, such as Real-Debrid, to stream content. Services like Real-Debrid may be illegal in your country. If you plan to use Bubbles, you may want to opt for using traditional streaming through the addon, of which there is a good amount.
If you’re into B-list movies, BigStar Movies is the addon for you. BigStar has a large selection of movies that you won’t find in the theaters, mostly because these movies may have never had an American release or were direct-to-DVD films. However, That does not mean you won’t find great content here. We found some excellent titles through this addon.
You’ll find all kinds of movie categories in BigStar, as well a few niche sections that you’re unlikely to find through other Kodi App. That includes a section for Faith and Inspirational, “Retro Afrika Bioscope”, Gay and Lesbian, and Film-Noir.
You can find the BigStar Movies Kodi addon in the SuperRepo Repository. Please follow the installation instructions mentioned at the top of this article for SuperRepo.
After installing SuperRepo, you can find and install BigStar Movies in Kodi by doing the following:
- Click on Addons on the left from your Kodi home screen
- Select the Package Symbol on the top left
- Click on Install from repository
- Find the SuperRepo repository and select it
- Locate Video App and open the menu
- Scroll down until you find BigStar Movies. Click the addon and then click on install.
WolfPack takes a few pages from other Kodi App for movies, delivering a fairly solid addon with a good amount to offer anyone looking for quality content. Outside of its TV content, WolfPack has a section just for movies which is further broken up into four sections: Beau’s Picks, Moranable Movies, Specialist Movies, and Box Sets. The first three sections are what appear to be sections named for and hand-selected by the addon’s developers, while the last, Box Sets, is exactly what it sounds like – box sets of different popular movie series.
Streaming here is fast and easy, with a lot of great sites scraped to bring in good content. WolfPack also has a more attractive design than some other add-ons, which makes it easier to navigate and find some of the content you’re looking for.
You’ll only find this addon in the WolfPack repository. To install the repository and the addon, do the following:

- You will find WolfPack with your other Kodi video add-ons
If you commonly use the Icefilms.info streaming site, this addon will give you access to the site’s content. Icefilms is a fairly simple addon, given that it doesn’t stream from a large number of different sites and instead focuses on one site exclusively. However, this is not uncommon, as there also have been add-ons for other single streaming sites, such as SolarMovie and Movies4K. It’s not uncommon for single-site App to stop working. Icefilms.info, for example, was down for some time before getting revived recently.
Icefilms has a bit more of a limited categorization method for its movies and films than other movie add-ons. Additionally, this addon can be painfully slow when loading menus. However, it’s been recently repaired by Smash to fix many of the issues that left it dead for quite a while. Icefilms also has a large number of HD films available for those that wish to use it.
To install Icefilms, you’ll need to install the Smash Repository. You can find Icefilms in a large number of other repos, but Smash will have the most recently updated version, and therefore the only working version of the addon.
To install the Icefilms Kodi addon, do the following:
- Open Kodi. From your home screen, click on Settings (gear symbol) at the top left of the screen
- Select File manager
- Select Add source at the bottom
- Where you see <None> click and then add in the following web address: https://mediarepos.net/kodistuff/
- At the bottom, name it Smash Repo and click OK
- Head back to your Kodi home screen and click on Addons
- Select the Package Symbol (top left)
- Click on Install from zip
- Find your Smash Repo FTP connection and select it (you should find this on the first screen after clicking on Install from zip)
- Select the REPO.zip file you find in the folder. A successful install is greeted with a message on the top left of the screen
- Go back to the screen with Install from zip and then click on Install from repository
- Find the Smash Repository and select it.
- Select Video App
- Click on Icefilms.info and then click Install
- You will find Icefilms with your other Kodi video App
